REVEREND DR. LISA CLAYTON

The Bible speaks of humility and quiet strength and a woman that fears the Lord. Reverend Lisa Clayton embodies those qualities.

Born to the late Nathaniel and Mazie Kendrick, she learned the value of sharing as the youngest of eight. Therefore, it is not a coincidence that her ministry would later be called “Sisters Who Share,” which holds a weekly prayer conference call and monthly Bible study.

Reverend Clayton is an inspiration to women in many capacities. Her ability to relate has resonated with women and men of all ethnicities, religious and cultural backgrounds. In 2017, Reverend Clayton successfully led the first women’s conference for the African American Clergy Association of Morris County, New Jersey, and she continues to preach and facilitate regularly.

After years of operating in the call of the gospel ministry, Reverend Clayton became licensed to preach at Mount Zion Baptist Church of Boonton Township, under the leadership of The Reverend Dr. Kimberly Credit, Pastor, in 2016 and later ordained on February 11, 2018. Prior, she served the women and the faith community faithfully for 15 years as the Women’s Ministry Leader at the Saint Luke Baptist Church of Paterson, New Jersey.

Reverend Clayton graduated from the William Paterson University with a B.A. in Psychology (2010), from Liberty University with a Master of Divinity degree (2014), and Payne Theological Seminary (2020) with a Doctorate of Ministry degree.

Reverend Clayton’s doctoral dissertation focus, “The Role of Transformational Preaching in Healing Clergy Divorce,” has been deemed her life’s work.

On January 8th, 2022, Reverend Clayton was honored to have been elected to serve as the eighth Pastor of the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Boonton Township, NJ. 

Reverend Clayton uses her anointing and her education in Psychology and Pastoral Leadership to empower people for the Kingdom of God everywhere she goes.

Reverend Clayton is the proud mother of four adult children: Alesha, Justin, Kenneth, and

Kendrick.
